Focus and Scope

The Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance (REMEF) is a peer reviewed, quarterly publication that receives research papers on issues of finance and economy, and which is edited by the Research Foundation of the IMEF (The Mexican Institute of Finance Executives). The publication is done in both a physical and electronic format. Its objective is to allow and stimulate scientific communication and the exchange of ideas between academics, the decision makers of the different sectors, and the people in charge of designing and implementing the economic and financial policies.

Peer Review Process

The Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance (REMEF) is a peer reviewed, quarterly publication that receives research papers on issues of finance and economy, and which is edited by the Research Foundation of the IMEF (The Mexican Institute of Finance Executives). The publication is done in both a physical and electronic format. Its objective is to allow and stimulate scientific communication and the exchange of ideas between academics, the decision makers of the different sectors, and the people in charge of designing and implementing the economic and financial policies.

 

Papers submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished scientific documents. Publishing the article implies the full transfer of copyright to the REMEF. The journal reserves the right for the full or partial reproduction of the paper in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, without the prior permission of the publisher.

 

All papers received by the REMEF will subject to a blind external review process and only the works that receive two positive reviews shall be accepted for publishing. The results of this review process will be delivered to the authors within three to six months following reception of the document. Any negative results can be appealed to the Editorial Committee, whose final decision cannot be appealed.

 

Papers can be written in either Spanish or English. The names and affiliations of the authors should not be included in the text of the manuscript. After the title, each manuscript must contain an abstract in both languages, the JEL Classification, and at most 5 keywords. The style is ultimately the responsibility of the authors, who are also responsible for all contents and ideas presented in their document. 

 

Research papers should not be submitted simultaneously to any other journal.

 

Research papers are to be all submitted in Word with a length of no more than 25 pages, single spaced, including tables, figures, and references. The papers are to be sent by e-mail: remef@imef.org.mx

 

The cover page should contain: a) title in English and Spanish, b) the name(s) of the author(s), c) institutional affiliation(s); d) abstract of no more than 180 words in both English and Spanish, which must be written including the following elements in the same order: objective, methodology, results and findings, recommendations, limitations and implications, originality, and conclusions; e) keywords (no more than 5) and JEL Classification; f) footnote with the address, telephone and e-mail of the corresponding author.

 

Figures, tables and formulas should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numbers. 

 

References should be listed at the end of the paper in alphabetical order employing the following examples:

Papers should be submitted with an executive report explaining the main contribution of the paper in simple terms. This report can be a two-page summary, or an audio or video, indicating their argument which will be made publicly available on the official website of the IMEF Research Foundation. Also, please send a resume and a scanned photo of the author.
