Abstract

The performance of the Mexican banking system as a result of digital technological inclusion

The objective is to determine the relationship between the performance of the Mexican banking system and the use of digital technology. The methodology is through the use of the fixed effects panel data model, profit per share was used and related to the increase in technological infrastructure. The result shows that the performance of the Mexican banking system is significantly determined by the increase in technological investment, the diversity of technologies used and the Internet connectivity facilities available to the population. It is recommended to identify the new disruptive technologies that will be the basis for the future growth of the banking system. The limitation of the study is that it has focused on the analysis of the impact of technological channels and not traditional channels. The originality is the use of an econometric model to validate the theoretical assertion that digital technologies have been fundamental for the performance of the banking system, in the conclusions it is established that the greater the investment in technologies, the more favorable the growth of the banking system of a country.
