CLIMATE FINANCE FUTURES: GREEN TRANSITION, FINANCIAL STABILITY AND JUSTICE

The Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance (REMEF) is pleased to announce its special issue on climate change (Vol. 22, No. 1, January 2027). This special issue will explore the expansion of financing for mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage management through innovations such as green bonds and taxonomies. It will also examine public, private, and market mechanisms (e.g., carbon and energy markets), addressing financial sufficiency, equity, and effectiveness at the national and global levels.

REMEF is a quarterly, peer-reviewed scientific journal specializing in cutting-edge research in economics and finance. It enjoys international recognition for its academic rigor and is indexed in Scopus (SJR Q4) and Web of Science (ESCI).

We invite you to submit theoretical and empirical articles on all aspects related to climate change, including, but not limited to:

* Scaling up financing to meet current and future financial needs
* Investment and financing for adaptation, mitigation, and transitions in the context of sustainable development
* Innovation in climate finance
* Financial instruments, sources, channels, and mechanisms
* Financial adequacy, access (equity and justice), inclusion, effectiveness, and results, considering financing at different scales (national, regional, and global)
* Climate finance for gender, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities
* Financial flows to support adaptation and mitigation (including those to, from, and between developed and developing countries), as well as monitoring by source, sector, level of governance, channel, region, country, and instrument.
* Facilitators and barriers to financing, including barriers to access
* Climate-related planning and management of finance
* Big data in climate change research funding
* Digital finance in climate finance
* Risks and impacts of climate change on green investments
* Fiscal policy incentives to promote green finance and investment

Key dates:
Submit a 180-word abstract to the editors by March 31, 2026, for preferential consideration.
Deadline for submitting full articles: June 30, 2026.
Notification of acceptance of submitted articles: September 30, 2026.
